We’ve been in the business since 1933.

Mr. Louis Harlick founded his company in San Francisco, California on Market Street in 1933. He specialized in equestrian boots and ballet slippers.

The Ice Capades, a popular traveling ice show at the time, had an office directly below Mr. Harlick’s factory. The figure skaters would go upstairs to be fit for custom skating boots. Over time, popularity for the Harlick brand grew within the skating community which led Mr. Harlick to focus his energy and efforts in creating custom skating boots full time.

In the late 1950’s the Henderson family, Bob and Bonnie, purchased the company from Mr. Harlick. They not only continued the Harlick brand legacy but also expanded the company internationally.

Their ability to create high quality leather boots with the highest standard of craftsmanship is what set them apart.

Listening to and accommodating skaters’ needs was instrumental in their boot making process. Their innovative solutions and techniques helped to make them the most trusted brand in the skating community.

The legacy continues through their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The current factory is 20 miles south from the original San Francisco location on Market Street.

The current boot making process in many ways is still an accurate reflection of what was put in place during the early years. Traditions such as the ability to listen to skaters’ and their specific needs are still in practice. Harlick continues to push the envelope with modern technologically-advanced solutions.

Many Olympians and world-class skaters have worn and trusted Harlick boots to take them to the highest ranks in the skating world.

Jason Kuhn, the great-grandchild of Bob and Bonnie Henderson is the sole owner of the Harlick skating brand. He started his work as an apprentice in 1997. After many years of learning the details of each step, he has become a master craftsman in his own right.

He enjoys teaching his five sons the art of bootmaking and hopes that one day that legacy will continue through them.
